Jordan is a land east of the Jordan River between Israel and the West bank in the west, Iraq to the east, Syria to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. The capital of Jordan is Amman and city with nearly 1.5 million inhabitants, the largest city in the country. Other cities are Aqaba, Al-Karak, Az-Zarqa, Irbid, Ma'an and Jerash.
The country is divided into 12 governorates.
