Belgium is well known for the beer, chocolate and pralines, mussels, Belgian fries, Manneken Pis and Tintin. In Belgium you get bored for a moment. There is always something to do or see. Even though Belgium is not such a big country, there are unique museums, excellent shopping opportunities, beautiful gothic churches and various nature. Both the active holidaymakers and culture lovers, Belgium is a suitable holiday destination. But perhaps the main reason to visit Belgium is the exuberant life with delicious food and drink.
Belgium is the southern neighbor country of the Netherlands and is also adjacent to Germany, France, Luxembourg and North Sea.
You can divide Belgium into three geographical zones: Lower Belgium with a height of less than 100 m, central Belgium with a height ranging from 100 to 200 m and Upper Belgium with a height of 200 to over 500 m... Botrange in the Ardennes is the highest point of 694 m.
History
The area that is now Belgium was inhabited during the Neolithic. In the 7th century BC. established the Celts there is. Around 55 BC. the country was conquered by Julius Caesar. Then the Romans made four centuries for peace and prosperity. Then the Franks ruled a number of centuries.
