Egypt
Planning to go to Luxor? Then you are as sweet, because there is plenty to see and do. But keep an eye on the time; sun god Ra can afternoon mercilessly strike.
Luxor Museum
The Luxor Museum you can safely describe as 'archaeological haven' in the bustle of Luxor. Here, no hordes of tourists, and especially no overdose of columns and hieroglyphs. Highlights of the museum are not stuffed the beautiful pictures in the basement of inter alia the gods Hathor and Iwnit and a red porphyry statue of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. In addition, the gilded cows head of Hathor and Wall Talaten (a 18 meter long wall with striking scenes, discovered in the temple of Akhenaten at Karnak) masterpieces.
Best time visit? After lunch, you can enjoy fine way in the museum.
The Temple of Hatshepsut
Did you know that Hatshepsut (1479 - 1457), the only female pharaoh, was married to her brother? Not that it was special. Marry within the family in ancient Egypt was not unusual. Hatshepsut was not a woman to be handled without gloves. She put her son, successor Tuthmosis III, coolly to the side. That Thuthmosis was not served his mother needs no explanation. After Hatshepsut's death, he had been wrecking her pictures in her temple. It makes the temple perhaps slightly less attractive on. One thing is certain, the 3500 year old temple façade is still a impressive wall against the cliff in the Valley.
Best time visit? Early in the morning (before 10 am) or you will be roasted in the valley.
Kom Ombo
This temple is the last, is doing just before your Aswan. It's like the temple of Edfu a structure from the Greco-Roman period. (180-145 v Ch.) The temple complex is masterful at an elevation on the bank of the Nile and is dedicated to Sobek, the god of water, fertility and trees and plants. Sobek is depicted with a crocodile. Here are some mummified crocodiles in a side room display. But the best is the temple which is also the patron god of Egypt to Horus depicted as solar falcon, itself, is dedicated.
Best time visit? Early in the morning. The sun will still need to warm up the Nile
Aswan Felucca trip
Absolutely the best way to see the Nile, Aswan and the islands. Sail from the boulevard to Kitchener Island, around Elephantine Island and several small islands upstream towards the Old Dam. Especially the last part, once you're out of town, you'll sail through real rapids and you will see beautiful water birds, including the pied kingfisher, the stilt and the Purple Swamp, a coot, but much bigger and flashy purple-purple color.
Best time? At the end of the afternoon, until sunset.
Get your new experience with a visit to Egypt, a country with a remarkable heritage that is difficult you find in other parts of the world.
