Myanmar, Birma or Burma?

Is it Myanmar, Burma or Burma and what mean these names? Since the year 1989, the country has undergone a name change but the name is still not always used by everyone. Opinions are divided about the name change.

Meanings of names
The exact meaning of the name Burma is still unknown, but the name is either derived from the Indian name Brahmadesh either comes from the Indo-Arabic languages ​​that were used in the 16th and 17th centuries. Myanmar refers to the ethnic group Myanmah and Myanma Naingngandaw, the local name of the country that was used in the 12th century. The meaning of the new flag
On October 21, 2010 also released a new design of the national flag of Myanmar. The flag consists of horizontal stripes in the colors red, green and yellow. In the middle of the flag, there is a large white star shown. The color red stands for decisiveness, green stands for peace and tranquility and yellow stands for solidarity.
