Main sites Kimberley

Broome is the most important place in Kimberly. Other important (stop) places along the tarmac and with a normal car / camper prepared standard way through the Kimberley are:
Derby
Derby is particularly mentioned in the guidebooks because of a tree with a sad history. Just outside the town stands a giant hollow baobab tree that was used by the white Australians as a prison for Aborigines.
Fitzroy Crossing
The town of Fitzroy Crossing is located on the banks of the Fitzroy River. It's not just a nice stop, from here you can also visit Geiki NP Gorge, Tunnel Creek, Windjana NP and Mimbi Caves.
Halls Creek
Halls Creek was created after a gold rush in the late 18th century. Except that it is the starting point of the Tanami Rd, there is not much to do in Halls Creek. Worth seeing is the Great Wall of China, a peculiar natural patterned wall that extends to the Purnululu National Park.
Wyndham
Wyndham is the northernmost town in Western Australia. Apart from nature, a prison boab tree, rock paintings and a crocodile park is hardly what to do in the small town.
Kununura
Kununura (where a lot of water coming together ") lies on the border with the state of Northern Territory is located on Lake Kununura and the Ord River. If you have not had the opportunity to visit Bungle Bungle, grab at the opportunity and visit the mini bungles (Mirima National Park of Hidden Valley).
