Greece (Greek: Ελλάδα, Ellada, Hellas) is a country (227 inhabited) in Europe which includes the southern part of the Balkans and 6,000 islands. Greece borders on Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey. Within the borders of Greece also includes the autonomous Athos, a peninsula with twenty monasteries of the Orthodox Church. The capital of Greece is Athens. A number of major cities in Greece: Thessaloniki, Piraeus, Heraklion and Larissa.
